MRS. MACNEIL
Dear WC Families,
Being at Willow Creek Elementary School for another year is truly amazing! Officially, this will be my 12th year of teaching! I am not quite sure how life moved forward so rapidly. It feels just like yesterday when I graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and started this ever-changing journey.
My career officially began in Markham, IL, in 1995. I was a Title One reading teacher with a lot of enthusiasm and love for my trade. After a challenging three years, I left Markham and took a fifth grade classroom position in Frankfort, IL. Although I truly enjoyed my short time in the Summit Hill District, I became pregnant within three years. Fortunately for my hubby and me, I stayed home for seven years to raise our son, Don. Motherhood was fulfilling, but I really missed teaching. In 2008, I headed back into the profession. I even took the plunge and this past spring, graduated from Saint Xavier University with a Master's Degree in Multi-Categorical Special Education.
I am thrilled to have each of your children in my classroom this year. There is so much living and learning to do as a third grader. This journey will seem tricky and challenging at times, but we will persevere through the challenges and come out stronger! Building relationships is my top priority. Growing a community where students feel safe to live and learn will be my focus for the entire year.
Having a strong relationship with parents is also important for the success of my young learners. Please check our class blog weekly for updates and amazing discoveries the kiddos are making! Feel free to reach out by commenting or sending me a personal email. I look forward to an unbelievable year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. MacNeil
